Der Raum in dem ich mich befinde, hat einen Funktionswechsel erfahren;
man erhinken."*
Orthogonalen immer neu formuliert.

Calibrating
The space in which I find myself has undergone change of function;
from being a launching site for nuclear-armed cruise missiles, it has
become a space for experimentation
in the field of pictural formulas.
Painting is a manner of reflection, which gives rise to insights without
having recourse to the corset of language.
Light is its material; painting occurs where light appears.
It cannot be illustrated, but rather manifests itself in the spartial
movement of colour.
The contrasts of colour temperatures turn the field of colour
into a picture plane. Painting are ´lightcatalysts´
of thought (intellectual reflection). Painting is not a problem
of subject matter, pictorality, depiction or illusion.
The choice of extreme formats percipiates questions about the way
in which the work is percieved.
A vertical format has a different impact from a horizontal format. The
question of this difference and its effect
on the relation of light and space is the theme of my Richtscheite
(spirit levels). The Richtscheite are activated
in a horizontal position. The movement of colours is accelerated,
and their expansion in space increases. In the
horizontal hang of the object it is the plastic, sculptural force of the
painting that develops.
On the Painting process: "What one cannot fly to, one must limp
toward."*
He who limps is not sure of the ground he is on and has difficulty oriententing
himself. He is constantly aware of his
movement in space.
In the search for the ortogonal the question of space and time
is continually reformulated. Movement is that
which is at least necessary for the perception of time and space.
Movement not only in the indemonstrable physicl sense, but also in that
of intellectual being.
